The old mill

We can see the side of this mill from the back balcony of the house. From that view, it’s nothing special. I’d never given it a second look before Tim discovered it on a walk with Lizzie the other day and insisted we all go see it. It was a little embarrassing to do so because the huge house next to it is a bed and breakfast and there were half a dozen people out on the various porches, talking. And watching us. So we didn’t stay long, and I felt funny about taking pictures, but I went back over tonight and nobody was out.

Interesting things have happened here–you can just feel it. The building dates back to 1606.

I don’t know if it’s actually generating power still, but the wheel turns. Too bad I couldn’t get a close up of the five garden gnomes ranged along the wall beside the wheel.

This is the bed and breakfast across the path. I wouldn’t mind staying here…….
