Constellations

Since Elizabeth is going to be studying the constellations for third grade next year, I thought this summer would be a great opportunity to learn about the stars. After all, we would be out in the country, without the city lights we have at home…..

What I didn’t realize was that the Netherlands is far enough north that it doesn’t get dark until very late at night during this part of the summer. (It’s light enough to see by 5 AM.) This photo was taken around 9:30 PM.

The bike path through the field on the left side of the picture has lights all along it that go on when it actually does get dark. So unfortunately, no stars were studied during this vacation.
