Pilgrim Museum

This is the American Pilgrim museum, which is located in one of the oldest (if not the oldest) houses in Leiden. The owner said that parts of it date back to the fourteenth century. She said that when she and her husband bought it, it had been turned into a garage with concrete covering all the original flooring, and the downstairs windows were bricked up. They restored it, little by little.

A historian leads tours and tells stories, which she apologized for not being able to do, and I’m sorry we missed that. But her generosity was completely unexpected, and I’m thrilled we got even a quick look inside.
